  • 6 Used to be much better!

Much prefered this restaurant when it was a "Hungry Horse". Carvery can be good on some days and really bad on others, which makes you inclined to choose somewhere else that guarenteed to serve food food every time you go.

  • 10 Great Food & Prices

I use this place pretty regularly as its only a 5 minute walk away! What can i say? I love it! The food is always freshly topped up and there is always a fantastic choice on the carvery. I'd say probably the best value and choice in norwich! I always pile my plate high and hardly leave a scrap. Its definitely much better now than it was before Castle took over! Loving the decor inside, its very bright & clean and makes the most of all the space it has, which is plentiful! Even though it is usually pretty bust i've never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a table without booking!! Only ever had 1 bad experience (some slightly strange tasting potatoes) but i think it might have been something i'd had to drink earlier! Not enough to put me off at all!

On my last visit recently, I have found that the Carvery is not as good as it used to be. The Yorkshire Puddings are always a hit, being very big and actually tasty. However, the plates in the rack to which to you collect before the meat is placed on was cold. All meats on offer to pink in colour. Tasted funny. The Gravy was the worst of all, so thick it killed the rest of the dinner. The Carrots, tasted yuck. Either they had a new Chief or he really did have an off day! Floors were not wiped often as I would have liked as gravy is spilt in that area and could potentially be quite dangerous if left. Children for example. Got as far as eating half, but even that was a big effort. I'm not in a hurry to go back for a while and try somewhere else. As it quite a big place, why don't they have a bit of fun and have some staff entertainment, staff dancing like the do in the USA! That would get people talking and visiting.
